Coastal Plain Yellow-eyed Grass

Yellow-eyed Grass, Xryris ambigua

Each of the compact, scale-covered,brown spikes, 1-2.5 cm long, produces a number of small, bright yellow flowers. The flat, linear basal leaves of these perennial aquatics are 3-5 dm long. One or more of these species occurs in a variety of moist habitats including swamps, shallow ponds, and wet ditches.(Florida Wildflowers and Roadside Plants, 1982)
