Enter into a unique and wonderful world overlooking Garcon Bayou. While leisurely following the trails, discover a pristine oasis of plants and animals found nowhere else but along the Gulf Coast.
The Way is located behind Perdido Bay United Methodist Church and 2.5 miles from the Perdido Key Gulf Island National Seashore. Take your time to enjoy a relaxing 1/3 mile stroll, initially beginning on a wooden boardwalk paralleling Garcon Bayou, then leading to a wooded trail, exiting back to the church’s entrance.

Perdido Bay UMC ~ Celebrating 30 Years ~ 1989 – 2019
WELCOME to Perdido! It is a pleasure to share with you a very special place where you find Spanish moss blowing in the breeze on Live Oak trees, Great Blue Herons nesting in tall pine trees, sugar white sand beaches, beautiful sunsets, and friendly people. The beauty that surrounds us along the Gulf Coast gives us a sense of place and belonging found nowhere else. This is also the home of Perdido Bay United Methodist Church. This growing church represents a cross section of many generations that include local families as well as those who have served their country in the military, and others who came to visit and decided to stay. We are all one church family with one mission, “Becoming the Heart of the Community.”
As we celebrate our 30th birthday this year, I am reminded of the greeting to all who visited our area by the former Mayor of Pensacola, Vince Whibbs:
…welcome to Pensacola, the western gate to the Sunshine State, where thousands live the way millions wish they could, where the warmth of our community comes not only from God’s good sunshine, but from the hearts of the people who live here.”
Located on the border between two states; we can see Alabama from the church property… we are “the Western Gate to the Sunshine State!”
To accommodate this growing, vibrant church, PBUMC is currently planning for the next 30 years by expanding our facilities, along with developing various mission programs to include Youth and Senior Ministries. Take special note in the Drone Video (above), a very unique feature not found on many church campuses – our Nature Trail, “The Way”. Come see it for yourself… a place to find peace and quiet, a place to reflect on the beauty that surrounds you, and most importantly how you fit into God’s bigger plan for your life… where we are all brothers and sisters in Christ.
